The nature of my job as a costume designer requires me to design and create new costumes and garments for specific productions. With the aim of implementing environmentally-sustainable and ethical practices into my work process, I embarked on a research project to create a catalogue of more sustainably-produced fabrics suitable for dance and theatre productions without the need to compromise on the quality of design or function. 

By sharing this resource with other designers, costume departments and theatre and dance professionals, my hope is to make it easier to effectively and efficiently source more sustainably-produced fabrics, and be a small step towards reducing the environmental footprint of new productions. 

The majority of fabrics listed are available on a “no or low” minimum order, with reliable stock levels for re-ordering and delivery options to the EU. Suppliers should be contacted directly with regards to sustainability verification, samples, and questions regarding the ordering process.
